The reason behind the Pit Bull Project

Moving to Colorado was an exciting time in our lives. My husband was going back home to his family, I was ready for a new adventure and of course Miss Vernie Wiggle Bottom was up for anything, as long as we all go.…

After settling into our new home, I started drowning more and more in the changing direction of my business, and I started to pull away from wedding photography and focusing more on Pet portraits. Time was passing by, and while I was putting most of my energy into taking Bina Photography to the next level, I couldn't stop thinking about the unfair laws that were targeting Pit Bull breeds in the Denver metro area. Every post about adoptable Pit Bulls had a note: “cannot be adopted to homes with BSL (Breed Specific Legislation),” which made their chances for a forever home much smaller.

In addition to rules and regulations about Pit Bull breeds, the number of innocent dogs that are losing their lives just because of a label was breaking my heart. I have met so many Pit Bulls and have never experienced aggression. Instead I experienced the opposite: pure love.

Aggression is, in most cases, the product of irresponsible dog owners, but genes are the one to blame. Since Pit Bull breeds are labelled as dangerous, it creates a smaller chance of them being adopted and a much higher chance of them being euthanized. I decided I would like to change their bad image with good portraits and showing through photographs that Pit Bull breeds are nothing more than ordinary dogs with extraordinary hearts. Pit Bulls are everyday dogs that are not only owned by criminals, but by everyday people. These include doctors, lawyers, bankers, mechanics, nurses, teachers, families, and many more great human beings.

I was adopted to a wonderful family with two little kids and another dog to play with. I'm very loved.

These two girls are my foster mom friends and we just had a great time together.

Here at the Pit Bull Project, we aim to spread awareness, education and, most importantly, love for our four-legged friends. We use portrait photography to help change the negative and unfair reputations of Pit Bulls and associated “bully” breeds.

Our photos will help bring awareness of rescue opportunities and adoption events for these pets looking for their forever home. We focus on Pit Bulls with an unfair past that are living their wonderful life with new families that love them. Showing as soon that as they can trust us, these dogs will do anything to be our best friends……..
